Introducing Bering Shawl... designed for my 2019 knitting cruise to Alaska!
Kits available
here.
The construction starts out quite portable which makes a ton of sense for travel knitting! It starts with 5 glaciers that are connected by Inner Passages, and finished with an “outside” border.
The beads are prestrung and worked with the easiest of techniques.
Construction
1. Five
Glaciers are worked. These start with
The Tip (a small mitered square). The Tip then has sts picked up around it, and
The Break Up is worked (with optional beads), and finally the
Blow Hole Section is worked. All of these sts are put on scrap yarn.
2. Then
Inner Passages are worked that join the
Glaciers together.
3. Finally, sts are picked up all the way around the rectangle that is made by joining the
Glaciers and
Inner Passages together, and
The Outside is worked in the round until the shawl is the size you want OR you run out of yarn.
